Axel Springer’s Bild is using Facebook Instant Articles to drive subscriptions to its paid product Bild Plus. Trump’s presidency has made politics the topic of interest state-side, and publishers are seeing major audience bumps as a result. But advertisers are less keen to follow suit. Video is a beacon of hope for publishers suffering from spiralling display ad revenues. But video too has a problem with maintaining quality while scaling quantity. Amazon’s cloud-based header bidding solution and plans for sharing more shopper data with publishers, puts it in prime position to challenge the duopoly.
